Just a little over an hour is a great state park at Hanging Rock in Danbury, NC. The sites are nice, and there are deer wandering around people watching. This was a great place for us to practice foil dinners on charcoal and running on total battery power. Too bad it was still 90 degrees and required the generator for the A/C. But the evenings were in the 70s and ok to sleep with the windows open and the cicadas singing. There are many trails in the park and it's definitely a place to come this fall.
